Standard Certificate of Standing (COS)

Those admitted in New Zealand and planning to work overseas or seeking admission overseas may be asked to provide a Certificate of Standing.

You can apply to the New Zealand Law Society for a Certificate of Standing.

This application is to be completed by the person named in the application. It must not be completed by a third party.

Legal Aid Provider Certificate of Standing (LAPCOS)

Those admitted in New Zealand with a current practising certificate and intending to become a legal Aid Provider with the Ministry of Justice will need to obtain a LAPCOS as part of the approval process.

You can apply to the New Zealand Law Society for a Legal Aid Provider Certificate of Standing.
