Military Decorations and Distinctive Badges (Modernisation) Amendment Bill referred to Select Committee

The Military Decorations and Distinctive Badges (Modernisation) Amendment Bill, a member’s Bill seeking to amend the Military Decorations and Distinctive Badges Act 1918 to update the penalty levels for offences in respect of military decorations and reflect that military service is no longer only for men, passed first reading and was referred to the Justice Select Committee last week. The Criminal Law Committee is reviewing the Bill and will consider making a submission; to contribute comments, please email Shelly Musgrave.

Copyright (Parody and Satire) Amendment Bill referred to Select Committee 

The Copyright (Parody and Satire) Amendment Bill, a member’s Bill seeking to amend the Copyright Act 1994 to provide that fair dealing with a work does not infringe copyright if the purpose is for parody or satire, passed first reading and was referred to the Social Services and Community Select Committee. The Intellectual Property Law Committee is reviewing the Bill and will consider making a submission; to contribute comments, please email Shelly Musgrave.
