Supreme Court grants interim stay of suspension

The New Zealand Lawyers and Conveyancers Disciplinary Tribunal ordered that Gautam Jindal be suspended for six months. Mr Jindal unsuccessfully appealed that decision and then sought leave for a further appeal. He was declined leave by the High Court and Court of Appeal but has now sought leave from the Supreme Court.

In addition to seeking leave, Mr Jindal sought an interim stay of the suspension which came into effect on 2 June 2026. On 24 June 2026, the Supreme Court granted a temporary stay of the suspension pending determination of the leave application, noting it would only be a reasonably short period of time until the Court decides the leave application.
