MWIS Lawyers is proud to be the Office of the Crown Solicitor at Whangārei, holding the warrant since it was established in 1971. Our Crown team prosecutes a broad regional caseload across Northland and appears regularly in the District Court and High Court.
We’re seeking trial-experienced litigators (ideally with jury trial experience) to join a high-performing, supportive and collaborative team. The Whangārei Crown Solicitor’s Office services the Northland courts, with work across Whangārei, Kaikohe, Kaitaia and Dargaville. As a regional warrant, we prosecute a wide range of offending, offering excellent exposure and variety compared with many other warrants.
In this role you will:
Prosecute jury trials primarily in the Whangārei and Kaikohe District Courts
Appear in the High Court in Whangārei, including appeals, and opportunities to act as second counsel on High Court trials
Appear for the Crown on hearings at all stages of the prosecution process when not in trial
Be responsible for thorough file preparation, case progression and high-quality decision-making
Work closely with justice sector stakeholders including Police, Courts, Defence and Corrections
