About the Role 

Are you a skilled Lawyer looking to trade the city hustle for a booming regional practice, just metres from the beach?   

We are seeking a Property & Commercial Lawyer to join our team inHokitika– now based in beautiful new office premises.   

Under the guidance of Partner, Joseph Morris, you will manage a diverse caseload, focus on core West Coast industries, as well as work closely with local families, businesses, and agricultural clients who value trusted, face-to-face legal counsel.

  • Agribusiness: Manage rural property transfers, farming leases, structuring asset protection and succession planning. 

  • Subdivision Work: Oversee property development, including multi-stage. 

  • Small Commercial:  Assist with small business sale and purchase, leasing, business structuring, and shareholder agreements. 

  • Mining & Resources: Advise on access arrangements.

About You 

We are seeking a lawyer with approximately two plus years post-qualification experience in property and commercial law.  

You will need: 

  • An excellent ability to build professional relationships  

  • Solid academic and practical ability, with the maturity and wisdom to thrive in a busy practice 

  • A clear understanding of billable hours and a willingness to work productively to meet targets 

  • A positive outlook, strong work ethic, and the ability to work collaboratively in a supportive team environment 

Previous experience in a law firm setting is preferred, but we are focused on finding the right person with a positive attitude and potential.
